HG2
The Brief
Hg2 has produced a series of luxury travel guides for all the major cities around the world. It wished to develop a system that would be an online extension of its hard copy books and allow members who have purchased books to access the same content online and engage and interact with the site to share their experiences. It also wanted to ensure its sites could complete with the larger established brands such as Lonely Planet.
The Solution
Space Galleon reviewed with Hg2 its experience with the existing site, and to understand fully the business and its underlying needs.
Hg2 already had a full-time print designer on board who understood the brand well, and wanted to use them for the site development.
Space Galleon worked with the designer to ensure the end design was web-friendly. Space Galleon has a great deal of experience and knowledge of true user experience, and the preferred layouts to ensure engagement and ease of use.
The end result was a simple front-end interface that allowed the user to find the material they wanted quickly. The main work was to ensure Hg2 had control of every aspect of the website.
Hg2 is able to control all content, which includes maps, icons, reviews, user feedback, blog entries and feeds from external sources.
The final content of the site had to be SEO friendly. A lot of work can be done to optimise the site, but much of this can be done technically and automatically. The site was developed to ensure page headings were tagged correctly and Hg2 had access to the SEO titles and URLs of all pages to ensure they ranked correctly for the best search terms. The content management system also automatically added the correct extensions of all the URLs for correct ranking.
Hg2 has a working e-commerce system. The ordering system allows it to keep track of customers’ orders.
The end result was an increase in online orders, traffic and exposure to a worldwide audience.
